Product Overview

Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering, or SERS, enables Raman spectroscopy to detect molecular signals that are often too weak to observe with conventional methods. By placing target molecules in close proximity to nanoscale metallic surfaces, SERS creates an optical environment where molecular fingerprints can be measured with greatly improved sensitivity.

This effect is based on the unique interaction between light and plasmonic materials such as gold and silver. When light excites these nanostructured surfaces, strong localized electromagnetic fields are generated around specific nanoscale regions. Molecules located in these regions produce much stronger Raman responses, allowing even trace-level substances to be identified with high confidence.

Because of its high sensitivity, rapid analysis, and label-free detection capability, SERS is widely used for advanced chemical sensing, biomolecular analysis, environmental testing, food safety, and pharmaceutical research.
